Hiring a marketer? This interview scorecard helps you create structure – and understand what good looks like
I recently hired a marketing executive to join Flare, and we had 595 applications. It’s a nightmare. But just like recruitment founders hiring junior recruiters, I knew what I was looking for when it comes to hiring a marketer.
But I’ve worked with recruitment leaders who wouldn’t know where to start when it comes to hiring a marketer. They can run a hiring process seamlessly, but do they really know what good looks like? That’s exactly why I created an interview scorecard.
It’s the same one I used recently to make a hire in my own team. It’s based around a set of key competency questions and it’s totally customisable, so you can adapt it to suit your business and the type of marketer you’re looking for.
This scorecard doesn’t replace any existing processes you use – but as a way to ensure consistency in finding the right marketer for your business.
You can download the template below and use it as a starting point.
And if you want to know what interview tasks to set, I’m happy provide some pointers. From asking them to tackle a specific brand launch, to what their first 90 days might look like, or proofreading exercises, every task serves a specific purpose based on the marketer you need.
Good luck!
